  • The LDI operates around three key characteristics-

    • Future Focused – with a focus on the future, we remain dedicated to ensuring our portfolio connects people with the right knowledge and skills for an ever-changing global marketplace. 

    • Learner Centered – our training and education is centered around the ever-growing needs of individuals as they engage in the lifelong learning required to maintain a vital and vibrant skillset.

    • Demand Driven– we understand the demands of today's volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment and design our training and education to remain relevant.

What is the LDI’s relationship to NJIT?

  • The Learning and Development Initiative (LDI) is a division of NJIT and works in collaboration with NJIT’s wholly owned non-profit organization the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII).

  • NJIT is the only polytechnic university that is an R1 (highest) Carnegie Classification research university and is designated both an Asian-American and Hispanic-serving institution. The New York Times college ranking tool rates NJIT No. 1 nationally among all public universities when you prioritize high alumni earnings, economic mobility and academic profile, and The Wall Street Journal rates NJIT No. 19 overall and No. 2 among public universities in the United States.

  • Founded in 2014, the NJII combines the vast resources of the R1 level NJIT, strong industry and government relationships, and proven methods to drive innovation that includes five business units: healthcare, defense, entrepreneurship, the LDI, and AI.

  • The LDI’s mission is to connect individuals with the essential knowledge and skills needed to navigate and thrive in an ever-evolving global marketplace. 

What is the LDI’s strategy?

  • The LDI’s strategy is twofold: leverage the integrated technological, creative, and innovative ecosystems of NJIT and NJII and identify highly qualified service providers and partners for content development, delivery, and/or design.

  • The LDI connects people to the skills and knowledge they need to succeed via the following modalities and locations:

    • online - asynchronous, where a student can access the training as their own pace

    • online - synchronous, where a student meets an instructor online at a specific time for training.

    • at the client’s location

    • at one of the NJIT facilities: 

      • the main NJIT Newark campus, 

      • the NJIT downtown Newark office location (494 Broad Street)

      • the NJIT Jersey City location

      • the NJII office in Newark (211 Warren Street) or 

      • COMET, NJII’s advanced manufacturing workforce development center in Landing NJ
