SHI International Corp., a leading global provider of technology solutions and services, is partnering with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to offer NJIT’s AI Literacy and AI for Educators microcredentials nationwide. The collaboration broadens access to high-quality, applied AI education designed to meet learners where they are regardless of industry, years of experience or educational background.
Developed by NJIT’s Learning and Development Initiative (LDI), the AI Literacy microcredential is intentionally designed for anyone seeking a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence. It requires no prior technical background and applies across sectors, roles and career stages. The microcredential introduces how AI systems work, where they are used, their limitations and the ethical and human considerations required to use them responsibly and effectively.
The AI for Educators microcredential builds on this foundation for K–12 teachers, higher education faculty and instructional leaders, equipping them to thoughtfully integrate AI into teaching, learning design, assessment and classroom practice.
Through this partnership, SHI will distribute both microcredentials as part of its workforce transformation and digital enablement offerings. The offerings enable clients to pair technology adoption with accessible, human-centered learning that supports confident and responsible AI use.
“AI literacy is now a baseline capability for participation in modern work and society,” said Michael Edmondson, associate provost for Continued Learning at NJIT. “Our AI Literacy microcredential was designed for everyone. By partnering with SHI, we can scale a shared understanding of AI that empowers people across industries, experience levels and educational pathways to engage AI with confidence, judgment and responsibility.”
SHI leaders noted that organizations increasingly recognize the need for inclusive AI education that supports broad workforce readiness, not just specialized technical roles.
“Our customers are asking how to prepare their entire workforce for AI,” said Rami Douenias, Sr. Director - Solutions Engineering - AI Platforms, SHI International Corp. “NJIT’s AI Literacy microcredential provides an accessible on-ramp for anyone to understand AI, while AI for Educators addresses the specific needs of those shaping learning environments. Together, they allow our clients to build a common AI foundation that supports sustainable adoption and responsible innovation.”
Both microcredentials offer flexible delivery models and digital credentials that signal verified learning. Organizations gain a consistent, scalable framework for AI readiness, while individuals gain the confidence to engage AI tools thoughtfully in their professional and personal contexts.
This partnership reflects SHI’s and NJIT’s shared commitment to ensuring that rapid advances in artificial intelligence are matched by equally strong investments in human understanding, agency and ethical practice.
